While certainly more capital intensive than a stand-alone fitness club, developing a multi-use property like a hotel fitness resort is more efficient and economical than building a 150-room first-class hotel plus an 85,000 square foot upscale sports club—typically 15% more costly than an equivalent Renaissance ClubSport. The combined hotel and fitness facility trims development costs by economizing on land use and associated land costs and by sharing facilities that separate sports clubs and hotels would each have to provide.
